Introduction:

Dungeoneering is a support skill that consists of exploring the dungeons of Gielinor, most significantly the old Dragonkin stronghold known by the Fremennik as Daemonheim.Players explore and survive the depths of Daemonheim by solving puzzles, unlocking doors, fighting mosters and bosses and using every Runescape skill to solve puzzles and progress.

Important things to know:

Prestige:

Prestige is a crucial element to gaining maximum experience per dungeon. Once all possible floors have been completed (all floors with tick marks) since the player's last reset, the Prestige should be reset to ensure maximum experience gain.

*Important: It is very important to note that you should complete all the floors available at your level before resetting your progress. It is done as it increases the level of prestige and boosts xp by a significant amount.*

Complexity:

Complexity is a 6-tier scale that determines how many skills will be involved with the dungeon—the higher the complexity, the more skills accessible. The higher the complexity the more experience you gain for the completion of a floor.

Size of the dungeon:

Dungeons are generated in small (4x4 grid), medium (4x8 grid), or large (8x8 grid) sizes. A dungeon may contain up to the maximum number of rooms possible from that grid, but generally the room count is smaller due to blank areas on the map.

The maximum number of rooms per size is:

  • Small: up to 16 rooms
  • Medium: up to 32 rooms
  • Large: up to 64 rooms

Dungeon size, coupled with party size and floor depth, are the major factors in experience rewarded upon completion. Large dungeons can only be started with parties of two or more.

Item binding:

Items such as weapons and armour help in speeding up the floors a lot.The bind items interface can be accessed by right-clicking the smuggler found at the base in the start of every floor. You can select your item loadout or remove existing bound items through him.Note that higher the level of your Dungeoneering more items can be bound to a maximum of 5 at 120.

*You can also purchase the Dungeoneering perk from the store to double the number of items you can bind*

It is highly recommended to bind the highest level weapon you can wear at your level as it helps in clearing floors quicker.

Binding suggestion:

Primal rapier/longsword/battleaxe or Sagittarian shortbow/Hexhunter bow with Sagittarian arrows > Flameburst defender(melee) or Highest level plate armor depending on your attack style > Blood necklace > Highest level platelegs > Shadow silk hood or any helmet accoring to combat style.

Note: Blood necklace are dropped by Edimmu(90 slayer),Flameburst defender are dropped by Pyrefiends(45 slayer),Shadow silk-hood is dropped by Night Spider and Hexhunter bow is dropped by Soulgazer(99 slayer)

Doors,puzzles and group gatestone(very important):

To become highly efficient at Dungeoneering one should know about all the types of doors, puzzles and how to effectively move the group gatestone.

Types of Doors:

  • Door - These types of doors are the best as they have no requirements to do before moving on to the next room.
  • Guardian Door - When you see this door you have to kill all the monsters that are present in the room before you progress to the next room.
  • Skill Doors - These type of doors require you to have a specific skill level to clear the obstacle in the room and move to the next door.
  • Key Doors - These doors can only be opened if the specific key is obtained by you or your party. The keys available can be found on the top left of your screen while inside a floor.

Group Gatestone:

The group gatestone is this tiny blue crystal here that lets you teleport to it wherever it is dropped. You get the gatestone only on complexity 5 and above floors. It makes moving around the dungeon really quick if used correctly. It is recommended to drop the gatestone near key doors to which you don't have access to so they can be opened when the correct key is obtained. You can teleport to the group gatestone using law runes or the blue portal at the base without any runes. The leader of the party always carries the group gatestone at the start of a floor.

You can also make a second gatestone called the personal gatestone(green crystal) using cosmic runes which you can make and place anywhere but only the person who made it can use it.

When your team uses Group and Personal gatestones large floors can be easily cleared within 10 minutes leading to massive xp gains per hour.So it is highly recommended to use these if you are planning to efficiently do floors and camp dungeoneering for a long time.

Puzzles:

Puzzles are an integral part of dungeoneering and you will come across them pretty frequently when doing c6 floors.Having a basic knowledge of the puzzles can speed up the floor times and avoid wasting a lot of time. There are a lot of puzzles in dungeoneering and it will not be possible to explain everything here(lazy af) so I will drop a link to all the puzzles and how to solve them down below.

Puzzles

Training the skill:

Starting off:

Starting off at level 1 you should be entering floor 1 at complexity 1.You will be given a starter set of sorts with gear for all 3 combat styles(Katagon equipment,Ectorobes and Stegoleather assuming you have 80+ stats in combat). It is highly recommended to bind the katagon rapier/platebody or Stegoleather body/Corpsethorn bow with arrows. If you dont have 80+ stats bind the highest level melee weapon or range weapon you get.Magic is not recommended as you get a very bad magic weapon to bind.So melee/range is recommended.

Floors 1-30/35:

At this level you should be rushing through small floors 1-20 on complexity 1.The early levels are very fast and you should keep doing c1s until floor 20.From here you can either rush floors 20-30/35 on complexity 1 or 6.Novice/Intermediate game modes gain good xp on c1s even at that level but Expert/Legendary players could do complexity 6 to maximise xp gains.Just rinse and repeat from here until you reach 70 dungeoneering.

Floors 30/35-60:

Ok now we have come to the point where people give up on dungeoneering but oh well.Once you are level 70+ it is recommended to rush upto floors 1-30. From 30-35 you should be doing mediums on complexity 6 for good xp(recommended for expert/legendary players).

At this point if you are able to get a team it is highly recommended to do large floors from floor 35 and upwards on complexity 6 for the best xp per hour.If you are a solo player it is recommended to continue doing medium floors at complexity 6 for the best xp rates as you need atleast 2 people to start a large floor.

*It is highly not recommeded to do large floors unless you have a team of 4+ as it affects the time taken to complete a floor. If you and your partner are really experienced in Dungeoneering you could do large floors with fewer people.*

From here on the whole process is repeated until you unlock higher floors upto floor 60 by resetting your progress in the party interface and going over through all the floors again.

Rewards:

So coming to the good part Dungeoneering offers various rewards such as Chaotic Weaponry,Gem bag,Coal bag,Bonecrusher,Prayer necklaces,Chaotic splint(T80 defender piece),Chaotic Remnant(can be combined with the Saradomin necklaces to make it more powerful).

The rewards shop can be accessed through Rewards trader who is located near the staircase south of Daemonheim bank.

We have come to the end of the guide.Thank you for being patient and taking a look at my guide. If there are any typos or suggestions please drop them down below and I will take all the steps to improve my guide.

Wishing you all good luck for massive xp gains :classic_love: :classic_love:

I think it's worth noting that you forgot to add the Hexhunter Bow which might be the best bow (not sure myself if it's better than sagittarian, I think it is). They're dropped by Soulgazers.

Other than that, nice guide! Prestiging is what some people don't know how to properly do even though it's simple.
